Head/Registrar: Iwuchukwu, Kelechi Augustina (Mrs)
The Registry is the hub of the Institute Administration. It is the -Nerve Centre and rallying point of all administrative activities in the Institute. The Registry serves the operative goals and objectives of the Institute as enshrined in the Act establishing the Institute. In accordance with the Institute’s Act, the Registry is headed by the Registrar who is responsible to the Executive Director for the day-to-day administration of the Institute.
The Registry at the moment is divided into the following units for smooth and efficient running:
A. The Executive Director’s Office
The Executive Director’s office is the overall administrative head of the Institute. Currently, Professor Chinyere Ohiri Aniche is the Executive Director and the chief accounting officer of the Institute.
B. The Registrar’s Main Office/Central Registry
In addition to its involvement in the Institute’s Policy formulation and implementation, the Registrar’s Main Office/Central Registry co-ordinates the activities of other departments and units.
1. The Establishment/Personnel Unit:
This Unit, headed by Ugwu, Boniface Uchechukwu (Mr.), Deputy Registrar (Personnel) who is responsible to the Registrar, deals with all staff matters. Its main function relates to recruitment, management and general services. It is the Institute’s point of entry and exit. It is divided into the following sections/sub-units with each of them manned by appropriate officers:-
(i) Senior Staff Personnel >> Head: Ugwu, Boniface Uchechukwu (Mr)
(ii) Junior Staff Personnel >> Head: Ahaji, Calista Chinyere (Mrs)
(iii) Staff Records and Statistics >> Head: Ejiole, Matilda Ahunna (Mrs)
(iv) Staff Pensions >> Head: Edoziem, Francisca Chibuogwu (Mrs)
2. The Academic Registry Unit:
Head: Nwankwor, Chris Chukwuekezie (Mr)
The Academic Registry Unit deals with academic matters of the Institute.
The Unit is also headed by the Deputy Registrar (Academic) who is responsible to the Registrar for the management and administration of the
unit. Generally, the Unit services the Academic Board, Business Committee of Academic Board, Committee of Deans, Congregation, Academic Planning and Curriculum Committee, Exams, Prizes and scholarships Committee, Academic Board Research Grant Committee.
It also handles Students’ Records, Students Matriculation, Convocation Ceremonies, Institute examinations, issuance of transcripts, statement of results and certificates and Academic staff Development, Programmes among others.
The Unit is currently divided into two sections/sub-units namely, Admissions and Exams and Records each of them being manned by appropriate officers. The Deputy Registrar (Academic) oversees the two sections or sub-units of the Academic Registry of the Institute.
3. Admissions Section/Sub Unit
Headed by Ikedum, Blessing Ukamaka (Mrs), This unit deals with administrative activities relating to admission of students into the Institute’s programmes. The Admissions section is headed by an Administrative Officer for now. The Unit carries out verification of results (from all examining bodies) of all students admitted into the Institute each year. It also serves as secretary to the Institute Admissions Committee, among others.
4. Exams and Records Section/Sub-Unit
Headed by Nkamnebe, Obianuju Phoebe (Mrs), the Exams and Records Section of the Academic Registry deals with the arrangement of students’ examinations and keeping of records. Among other functions, the provides secretarial services to the Examinations Committee.
This section/sub-unit is headed by the Deputy Registrar (Exams & Records).
5. Council Affairs & General Administration Unit:
With Metu, Joy Ihuoma (Mrs) as the head, The Council Affairs & General Administration Unit deals with Council and General Administration matters. The Senior Assistant Registrar (Council Affairs) who is the Schedule Officer on Council matters is responsible to the Registrar and is charged with the responsibility of servicing meetings of Council and its committees, including the Finance and General purpose Committee (F & GPC) among others. The Officer initiates due implementation of Council decisions and directives through the Registrar and performs other general administrative duties.
6. Students Affairs Unit:
Okoroafor, Felicia Ochomma (Mrs) heads this Unit and is in charge of students’ on-campus accommodation. As the Principal Assistant Registrar (Students Affairs), she is responsible to the Registrar for the management and administration of the students’ hostels.
The Unit also has the responsibility of checking in and out of the students on arrival and departure and maintains appropriate records of students in the hostels as well as ensuring the welfare of students in the hostels, etc.
